Crowdace Homes commissioned Will Nash to make them a Swift Tower at their Braishfield Road development. The project was an opportunity to try a new Swift Tower design approach using a 400x400mm x 6m square tube as the main vertical structure and inserting a plywood nest box apartment block into the top of the sqare tube
This initiative:
• Provides a prominent, 6m high piece of art to raise awareness of this much loved, declining urban bird.
• Provides additional nesting spaces for swifts and other urban wildlife to help address the long-term loss of traditional nest sites in buildings.

Will Nash is currently building swift towers across the UK with variations developing from his original design.

The 6-metre-tall laser cut steel tower features 12 Swift nest boxes, 6 Bat boxes and 6 multi-species boxes . A 12v audio system plays pre-recorded swift calls to attract the birds to the tower.
