Wartling Road

Wartling Road proposal

I propose to cover the end wall of the Wartling Road community centre with a raised lattice of overlapping posed life sized figure outlines. Each individual figure will be the outline of an individual member of the Wartling Road community. The proposed work would be made of brushed stainless steel or powdercoated Zintec, The reflective surface of these materials will respond to ambient daylight, as light moves over the surface the appearance of the work will vary due to the reflection of light from the material and the shadow cast by the lines onto the wall. The fixing points will be determined by digitally overlaying a grid (determined by the spacing of the weatherboard wall surface of the building) onto the mass of overlapping figure outlines, where the figure lines correspond with the grid a fixing point will result, thus the geometry of the building combined with proportions of the community completes the sculpture.
