The landscape artwork at Swale Park in Whitstable is almost complete. All that’s left to do is plant the 13 apple trees in the pits which have already been dug out and filled with a mix of soil and manure.
We will be planting the trees on Saturday 6th December from 12 noon onwards. Residents are invited to come along – if you would like to help, please wear wellies or other suitable footwear, and if possible, bring a spade! If you don’t want to help plant the trees, please come along to watch and chat to us, have a drink and a snack and celebrate the completion of the project.
Simon Reed from Rough Old Wife Cider (a local cider producer) will also be on hand and will talk about his company’s work at and bring along some samples to taste. Rough Old Wife will be looking after the trees in the future, and in return will take any apples that the residents do not pick and use them for cider production.
