The Cubic sculptures were initially inspired by the pixels you eventually see when you zoom into a digital image, the idea that within everything and anything there are these basic blocks of matter. They are a quantification or a rationalism of sculptural form into minimalism. You could think they were Anti-Sculptures, that when you apply this approach to form, the normal subtleties of sculptural expression are lost and you are left with these bare arrangements of cubes. But somehow there is still a residual expression in the detail and the arrangement, this is what I’m exploring with these sculptures.
